from Anarchist News:
Today, we received several e-mails pointing out an extremely troublesome, racist image that we used in Pink and Black Attack #4. For this we offer no excuses, but instead an apology. We are sincerely sorry for our ignorance and bad decision in publishing the image. We have requested the zine be pulled off of zinelibrary until we can remove the image and put up a new version. We would also request that anyone who has printed off multiple copies refrain from distributing this.
First, we would like to make it clear that the decision to use the image was ours and ours alone, and that the original authors of the text, Gender Mutiny, neither supplied, suggested, nor knew that we were using that image in the article.
Second, we admit our ignorance and extremely poor judgement in publishing the issue with the offensive image. We did not know the context of the image, but on its face we should have seen that it is inappropriate. Having learned the history of the image, we find ourselves ashamed to have published
it. We are tremendously sorry and will commit to ensuring that no similarly offensive images are present in any of our future issues.
Third, we appreciate that so many people wrote us to let us know of the problem with the publication. We are grateful to the community for calling us on our shit.
The zine is being removed from zinelibrary, and another version will be released shortly.
We ask that anyone who is distributing the issue with the fucked up image cease to do so, and wait until we put up a version of the issue without the image.
We welcome comments and feedback, as always, and look forward to engaging in constructive dialogue with anyone who so wishes.
-Pink and Black Attack
