May 21 NW Regional Celemency March for Leonard Peltier Poster, Flier and Information Packet

From: Leonard Peltier Defense/Offense Committee Northwest Regional Organizer's Office, P.O. Box 5464, Tacoma, WA 98415-0464 bayou [at] blarg.net

Greetings All,

Fliers and posters are ready for May 21, 2011 Leonard Peltier March. In the past when we did marches we could afford to send out bulk copies. This time we are already having to borrow money in order to move forward with promoting the march. And we still have our mass mailing to do. So we are requesting that supporters make their own copies of the flier and poster. Leonard Peltier support has always been a grassroots effort, with supporters taking upon themselves direct ways to help out. This time, more than ever, this needs to happen in order to build the momentum needed to get clemency for Leonard. If you want copies of the flier and posters to get them out please send a request, with your mailing address, to: bayou@blarg.

HANDING OUT FLIERS: Fliers can be handed out at most public events.

POSTERING: You can find places to put up posters at colleges, union halls, churches, bookstores, coffee shops, community centers and so on. PLEASE don't do illegal postering. In the past the police have harassed us over that. Given that the police don't much care for us anyway, they can use illegal postering to cause us a lot of trouble. And that is a distraction from all the other work we need to do.

One thing you can do, at colleges it works well, where you find places that have stacks of free newspapers, leave a stack of fliers.

FOLLOW-UP: There are people who side with the government on this issue and will take down our fliers and posters. If you can check back at the places you poster at and you may have to reposter every few weeks until the march.

SENDING OUT FLIERS AND POSTERS: You could help by mailing out fliers and posters to those that you believe may use them to help out.

Leonard Peltier support is made up of many parts. Each supporter that helps is a part of the active support. All the parts put together makes up the whole of the Leonard Peltier grassroots support movement. Please help if you can.

This march will kick off our New Northwest Campaign for Clemency for Leonard Peltier. It will take time to build this campaign and we ask for your help. Leonard has been in prison since 1976 for a crime he did not commit. His health has gotten bad and he needs all of us now. We need people to pass this statement to their friends, groups, organizations, publications, web sites and Facebook. We need people to post and pass out fliers. We need donations. We need to make this march as large as possible to show others that there is support for Leonard Peltier. Please help us. Please contact us if you can help.

For donations: Please make checks out to the Leonard Peltier Defense/Offense Committee (mark them for NW March) and send them to: Tacoma LPODC, P.O. Box 5464,

FACEBOOK ORGANIZING. Many of the great struggles of our times has used Facebook as a means to help organize people to come out to events. This has included the uprisings of people throughout the Arab world and working people struggling against union busting by politicians in the U.S. This new form of organizing has placed great power in the hands of grassroots activists. We ask all Leonard Peltier Supporters to use this tool to get the word out about the May 21, 2011 Regional Leonard Peltier March and Rally and the clemency campaign. Also, please post information on news web sites.
