Trash & Sewer Rats: Ecology in the streets

These zines are our desire to express solidarity with rifts in the dominant paradigm, and those creating them. We are inspired by those who have realized that time is of the essence, and that all the theory in the world cannot replace healthy community, or a healthy biosphere. Those who, despite violent suppression, put their whole selves into reconstruction and resistance inspire us. The weeds in the sidewalks, the ivy on the brick, the fungi in the abandoned lot and the rats in the sewer inspire us. No compromise in defense or pursuit of healthy, natural communities!

Dominant culture has developed in a way that mutes that desire, muffles it with systems of oppression, hierarchy and domination that create vast injustices in our society that are magnified on the earth, our land-bases, and the watersheds and ecosystems that support us. This culture has created a false dichotomy, a natural world this is separate from ourselves, neatly contained in National Parks and on postcards, juxtaposed with a human society that is endowed with the god-like insight and foresight to make decisions for ecological systems and communities that it has no reasonable connection with.
